Severino Del Bono

Statement
The effort and intensity of the human faces are the research fields of Del Bono, imprinted on the canvases are alterations and light deformities of close-up faces which try to examine emotions, creating a sort of silent and solitary interior dialogue.

Bio
Born in Nuvolera (Brescia) 1966.
He grew up in a family environment. where at home an atmosphere of art prevailed. linked to the concept of beauty with specific attention to an expressive analysis that returns in his paintings. He is very close to his older brother. an amateur painter who began painting in an almost playful manner. Severino accompanies his brother, who is colour blind. to choose colours for his canvases as the distinction of colours is particularly difficult for him.Everything is lived as a game, and is a way to enter into contact with a world made of colours. taste and shapes that will be important for his future path. Attentive in his analysis with a sharpened desire of the style of a refined connoisseur. and also his past memories as a furniture restorer.
His self-taught approach to painting led him to encounter his first hesitant approaches and interpretations. and later on to choose the figurative path. Around twenty years of age he became aware of wanting to become a painter and began the course which would bring him to prefer a very guarded technique, united with an aesthetic expressiveness figuratively emphasised. The effort and intensity of the human faces are the research fields of Del Bono, imprinted on the canvases are alterations and light deformities of close-up faces which try to examine emotions, creating a sort of silent and solitary interior dialogue.
The influences of a 'caravaggesco' light are based on the expressiveness of Francis Bacon and the study concentrates on the feminine face where they are immobilised, with ultra-realistic strokes, expressions that result in irony by means of objects which assume a symbolic and iconic importance: portrayed women are the emblem of escape from chaos and everyday reality.
His collaboration with the Vecchiato Art Gallery began in 2009 when Severino Del
Bono started a journey which brought him face to face with the market and the world
of contemporary art. The artist lives and works in Brescia.
